Phone and watch podcast sync

One episode.
One place.

Start on your phone, continue on a watch and return without treating every device as a separate podcast world.

01

Your phone is the home base

Subscriptions, folders and playlists are organised in podl on your phone. That gives every linked watch a clear source of truth instead of asking you to rebuild the same setup on a smaller screen.

02

Selected listening moves out

You choose which episodes or playlists should be available on a watch. Downloads are intentional, so you can prepare for the time and storage you have rather than attempting to carry an entire library everywhere.

03

Progress comes back

After listening, podl syncs the meaningful state: playback position and whether an episode has been played. That lets another device continue from the right point when it next receives the update.

  • Pause on one device and resume on another
  • Avoid replaying episodes you already finished
  • Keep prepared playlists recognisable across devices
04

What happens offline

A watch can play audio already downloaded to it without a live connection. Progress waits locally until the device can communicate again, then syncs back. If two devices have changed the same episode while offline, podl uses the latest meaningful update available.

Straight answers

Common
questions.

Is syncing instant?

Not always. It depends on the device, connection and whether the app has an opportunity to communicate. The goal is dependable continuity, not a promise that every update appears in the same second.

What data is synced?

podl uses the information needed for your podcast experience, including selected library data, downloads, playback position and played or unplayed state.

Does a watch need internet access while I listen?

No for audio already downloaded. Connectivity is needed when transferring content or sending newer progress back.

Will Android sync too?

Android is coming soon. The aim is for it to join the same podl account and listening history rather than form a separate product.
