A podcast app for runners

Good stories.
Long miles.

podl began with a very ordinary running problem: the podcasts on a phone and the podcasts on a watch did not behave like one library.

01

Built from the run backwards

Runners do not need another complicated screen at the start line. They need the intended episode on the intended watch, enough audio for the route and controls that make sense while moving.

02

Make a run-ready playlist

Use the phone when you have time to browse. Group a series, save a long interview for Sunday or put several shorter episodes together for an easy week.

  • Plan by mood, route or training day
  • Know what is ready before you leave
  • Keep spoken audio separate from your music setup
03

Carry less

With episodes downloaded to a compatible Garmin or Apple Watch, the phone does not need to come along. That means fewer pockets, fewer distractions and one less expensive rectangle bouncing around.

04

Finish the episode, not the admin

If a run ends halfway through an episode, synced progress means you can continue later from your phone. If the episode ends first, its played state should return with you too.

Straight answers

Common
questions.

Is podl only for runners?

No. It suits anyone who moves between a phone and a watch: walkers, riders, hikers, gym users and people who simply want to leave their phone behind.

Do I need a cellular watch?

No for downloaded episodes. A compatible watch, stored audio and Bluetooth headphones are enough during the activity.

Can I prepare different playlists?

Yes. Playlists are intended to make listening easy to organise around different activities, series or moods.

Why not use separate phone and watch apps?

You can, but they often maintain separate histories. podl was created to make the handover itself part of the product.
